Education & Money<\/p>\n
Since 1970\u00a0 federal spending on education has increased approximately 375 %.<\/p>\n
What do we\u00a0 have to show for it???<\/p>\n
What we\u00a0 have are test scores that across the board have remained just about the same.<\/p>\n
I will\u00a0 remind you that just this past week President Obama announced a desire for a 21\u00a0 BILLION dollar INVESTMENT in education.<\/p>\n
How much\u00a0 did the recent budget \u201cbattle\u201d save us???<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t get\u00a0 me wrong, I LOVE <\/strong>President Obama. I\u00a0 also love Speaker Pelosi and Leader Reid too. Not only do I love them,I am very thankful <\/strong>for them!<\/p>\n During a\u00a0 hot summer about 235 years ago a few words were written in a document that would\u00a0 change the course of life for countless millions of people.<\/p>\n \u201cWe hold these truths to be\u00a0self-evident, that all men are created\u00a0equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights<\/p>\n that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n For a lot\u00a0 of people, this is where the words stop.<\/p>\n LET ME BE\u00a0 CLEAR\u2026This is where my somewhat contentious remarks about the love of my current\u00a0 President and a few of like-minded progressives comes into play.<\/p>\n The\u00a0 Declaration of Independence continues on after \u201clife, liberty and the pursuit of\u00a0 happiness\u201d<\/p>\n And I\u00a0 quote, (pause)<\/p>\n \u201cThat to secure these\u00a0 rights, Governments are instituted\u00a0among Men, deriving their just powers from\u00a0 the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes\u00a0 destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish\u00a0 it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles\u00a0 and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to\u00a0 effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that\u00a0 Governments long established\u00a0should not be\u00a0changed for light and transient\u00a0 causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind\u00a0are more\u00a0 disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by\u00a0 abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of\u00a0 abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to\u00a0 reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to\u00a0 throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Pardon me for having to read\u00a0 from the paper, but I called and President Obama said he just wouldn\u2019t be able\u00a0 to let go of the teleprompter tonight.<\/strong><\/p>\n Thank you\u00a0 President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Leader Reid for stirring the souls and coals\u00a0 of the quiet fires in the bellies of thousands and thousands of Americans like\u00a0 the ones here today. Thank you for reminding us that freedom is not free.Thank you<\/strong>\u00a0for shoving the bitter and\u00a0 foul tasting medicine of your rhetoric and policies down our throats\u2026 that awful\u00a0 tasting medicine has begun to cure the ignorance and apathy among us.<\/p>\n Ladies and\u00a0 Gentlemen, our government isn\u2019t of, by or for the people anymore.<\/p>\n Entitlements are and have been poisoning generations of Americans.<\/p>\n An example\u00a0 of this is:<\/p>\n Who washes\u00a0 a rental car????? How do you think people drive rentals?<\/p>\n You do not\u00a0 take care of something you have no investment in!<\/p>\n Only\u00a0 through the arrogance and ignornace\u00a0of man could we go from a worldwide\u00a0 magnetic, intoxicating beacon of righteous leberty\u00a0to an ever growing\u00a0land of\u00a0 hedonism and moral decay; with no regard for the time honred virtues of truth,\u00a0 honor, integrity, sacrifice and humility<\/p>\n And may I\u00a0 offer a warning. I don\u2019t think God will understand that you ignored, shunned and\u00a0 were ashamed of him throughout your life.<\/p>\n Some people\u00a0 may be\u00a0wondering, \u201cWhat do we do?\u201d To those I say, in the absence of knowing\u00a0 what to do, do that which you know to be right.<\/p>\n As for the\u00a0 TEA Party folks & others who understand the meaning in my words this evening — We know that the answer is still as\u00a0 simple and as it was 235 years ago:<\/p>\n That to secure\u00a0 these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers\u00a0 from the consent of the governed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I will\u00a0 close with a quote that sums up my point in a way that only Reagan could.<\/p>\n \u201cFreedom is\u00a0 never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our\u00a0 children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for\u00a0 them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our\u00a0 children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States\u00a0 where men were free.\u201d<\/p>\n Thank you\u00a0 and thank God for continuing to bless the United States of America<\/p>\n — R.
